A Nice Story

The (Real?) Good Life

"Yes, once I have been there" I answered seriously. "Really?", She laughed a bit. "'I will tell you about it someday", I said. "Why don't you tell me now?" she asked in a very hopeful tone. Therefore, I started telling.
"Between two ancient trees that seemed to be one, there was a very small entrance. I have decided to check what I can find beyond them. With a little effort, I succeeded to get into there. There, I found a very clean, quiet, developed but not very big city. The first place I saw was the grocery store, so I got into there. I saw very kind and nice people. Their children didn't make any noise and were very polite. Immediately I thought I should remain here although I like the place where I live. The night passed in the motel that was just like a hotel, and when I woke up, the city was amazingly beautiful; outside the flowers bloomed, and it seemed like they have more colors than the rainbow has; I could even hear the sound of the river during the early morning. I didn't see one small piece of trash, and the city was clean like their owners. On the next day, I went to a beautiful park near the river; there I found parents and children that are having a very relaxing time. The usual screaming and yelling were replaced by birds' sounds. I decided to talk to some of them in order to check what they think about their city. All of them without exception said that they like living there, and they are pleased with everything they have. When I asked where is the police station, they answered that they don't need a police; they said that everyone here knows what is allowed and what isn't. No one complained about anything. At that point, I believed that it's the perfect place on earth. It seemed like the vice didn't find this remarkable place, only the purity did. I felt that finally I found a place with a sense."
"So, why are you here?" she asked and couldn't wait to hear his answer; she was terribly interested in what went wrong. "Ah, I laughed, a very essential thing was missing…"
